I have been a fan of David Stoecklein's work for many years, and he continues to outdo himself with each new endeavor. This book is no exception. His love of horses and the west, combined with his overall vision, unique photographic eye and technique make this book truly exceptional. The variety of shots and his use of angles and light will keep you turning each page with anticipation. You feel as if you have snuck into the horses world, without the horse knowing that you are there. He successfully captures the western horse in a way that portrays them as they are: stunning, magnificent animals, deserving our our appreciation and respect. Even those who are not 'horse' fans per se, will appreciate the depth and breadth of Mr. Stoecklein's style.

This is one of the most beautiful bookes I have ever read. It has an excellent section on what the colors of horses mean as well as information on how horses came to be in America, what has happened to Indian ponies, and breed histories. This book also contains poetry from Sue Wallis. I bought this book for the pictures, but the text as definatly proved to be worth while as well.

This is by far one of the best horse related books out there. Not only are there tons of beautiful pictures but its full of so much information, from colors to trainers... great buy! definately worth your money!!!

About the Author

Terry Dillon has led a successful life in education as a headmaster, one of Her Majesty's Inspectors of Schools, and as an international educational consultant, advising national governments in Romania, Montenegro, the Caribbean and South Africa. I read the book with vivid interest. I know Sardinia because I have a degree in Italian and studied Italian writers. I had been fascinated by this island's writers like Grazia Deledda. Mr Dillon's book offers another way of looking at the island's fascinating charm. The warmth and soft irony with which he describes different experiences and places made me think of Sardinia like a place I must visit.

About the Author

Zora O'Neill has lived in New York City since 1998, but still calls New Mexico home. Growing up, she attended ceremonial dances at Taos Pueblo and camped in the Pecos Wilderness—but she took it for granted, and perhaps even complained about it when she was dragged out of bed before dawn for some adventure. It wasn't until she had moved away and traveled the world that she realized in what a wild, culturally rich place she'd been raised.Zora's travels and writing have taken her on a circuitous route back to her home. Graduate study in the Middle East taught her about the Arab roots of adobe and irrigation channels; visiting hotels in southern Spain while researching guidebooks was disorienting—the brick floors, thick walls, and shady courtyards felt just like those in Santa Fe. For guidebook work in Mexico, she has followed the threads of Spanish and indigenous culinary traditions as they made their way up to her home state.All along in her travels, Zora has been particularly interested in food, occasionally working as a cook, caterer, and cookbook author (Forking Fantastic! We recently used this book for our trip to these three cities and found the information to be accurate and very useful for allocating the amount of time we wanted to spend in each and making the most out of our time there. It is up to date, readable, and hits almost all the high points. Although the accommodations listed are all fine, you will still need to check some other sources to assess additional options for accommodations in whatever price range you are interested in.

Moon Handbooks consistently deliver quality guides on vacation destinations. Even more important, they find writers who do a great job of communicating their love of place. I wont' have time for Albuquerque, but the sections on Sante Fe and Taos are packed full of information and include info on lots of other sights in the immediate area.

This is a very good book if you are hitting New Mexico's big three.There may be other books that just focus on one city in more depth,but if you are looking for the convenience of only one book, this isit. I usually travel with Michelin guides. This is not at that levelbut it is better than anything else I found.

Another gem by MOON! - well organized, has much more than just the tourist info (history, little-known gems, interesting, etc.

Good information, only black and white pictures, and not very well produced. Moon is one of the most informative travel guides, but it needs to modernize the photography.

A lot of great information! One tip they gave - talk to the people who live there to get recommendations weHere to eat. Yes, do! But, Fodor's also gives great suggestions. Very helpful on where to stay.

I was bit put off that the author appeared to be recommending visiting Santa Fe instead of Albuquerque, but aside from this bias it has helpful hints.
