Long ago, before the surface of the Earth cooled, I wanted to write a book like this...but gave it up as being an impossibility, which of course it is.Fortunately for us all, Clements and McCarthy were not so easily daunted. It is an astounding achievement by two of the world's most knowledgeable anime experts, and, if you have even the slightest interest in anime, belongs right on the shelf next to your DVDs, laserdisks, and videotapes.If I have any criticism to give, it's that movies that were not of personal interest to the authors are sometimes given short shrift. Example--Crusher Joe and Dagger of Kamui, both of which were groundbreaking films at the time (and still have the capacity to delight--CJ for its amazing action sequences and DoK for the stunning color and design work), are given rather flat entries. But this is personal opinion--the bottom line is that the book is very nearly all-inclusive, and if it contains any errors of significance, I have so far been unable to spot them.Bravo!

THE ANIME ENCYCLOPEDIA IS A GOOD RESOURCE BOOK BUT ALL THE The Anime Encyclopedia, Revised & Expanded Edition:A Guide to Japanese Animation Since 1917 (Paperback) ARE THE 2001 ORIGINAL EDITIONS NOT THE 2006 Revised & Expanded Edition:

While it may be the best and more thoroughly thought-out book about anime so far, it is not quite as relevant as one first hopes. I bought it to have a reference guide, and for this it has proven useful. It is a great tool for finding various animes by a specific directors, or, on the flip side, finding out who produced which shows. However, this is almost the extent of its usefulness.If one is searching for a comprehensive guide to themes in anime (say the theme of reaching maturity or of encountering alien life or of the woes of war), one will be completely disappointed. The only way to search for anime is by title or producer. If one seeks factual information about anime, like which Mangas or comic strips the animes are based on, one will be disappointed. Even basic terms, plot tools, cliches, genres, and so on are completely overlooked. Japanese culture and language are apparently never consulted by the authors. All that matters to the writers is what the title of the anime was, usually the basic plot, and who made it (and in some instances influences). And that is greatly disappointing for something called an "Encyclopedia." Also, if you seek any form of information on a spin-off or a sequel series to any anime, you are at a loss-- the only references to such follow-ups (often more important or popular than the antecedent), if at all existent, are to be found only within the entries to the original released series. As if that wasn't enough, one must also sustain insult while the author shows disdain and disregard for certain animes which may happen to be some of the most popular and loved (Evangelion comes to mind).Of course, it is a first edition. And it is already very dated, with much important anime being too recent for any real inclusion (for example, the world-shaking Spirited Away is mentioned as an upcoming Hayao Miyazaki film). Therefore, if one seeks a comprehensive guide to what anime has been out there for a while, it is a crucial and necessary book to own, but not if one seeks to understand a particular anime better, or if one has questions about anime in general. "The Anime Reference Guide" is a title better suited for this book. Definitively buy it if such a book is what you seek, but do not expect an encyclopedia.

Thick, recently revised, handy guide to anime, this should be your first reach when questions come up or just browsing. Sections on types of subject matter too. This is an adult reference work so some caution about child questions.

Another gift. This one was a smash hit! I appreciated the note to parents and informative preface. Thoughtfully compiled.

This book has everything I love in books! Magic, mystery, a little bit if heat, friendship, betrayal, love, etc. The beginning was slow for me, it's a lot of confusion (the MC has amnesia) and world building, but once I was into the story I could not put it down!! And that ending!!! Who can Taja trust?? Looking forward to more answers in book 2. Its well written and has an intriguing world. Cant wait to learn more about the magi and more about Taja!

I'm really excited for this new series, I love to dive into new worlds. I already have my favorite character picked out! If you haven't read anything by Raye Wagner now is a great time to start!

Where to even start to explain how amazing this book is! It snagged me from the beginning and I couldnt put it down. I love this world that Taja lives in. It's different from any book I've read and love all the characters. Can't wait to see what happens next.

This story by Raye Wagner is a unique, very different, but intriguing new world. I will admit to some confusion in the first chapter, but quickly started making sense to me. This story centers around Taja, a woman who cannot remember her past or who she was. This story has everything from love, intrigue, murder, betrayal, and deception!! I really enjoyed this story and cannot wait for the next book!!

A rollercoaster of suspense that keeps riveted . I love this story, with its ups and downs and emotional turmoil that keeps you reading page after page as you can't put it down. An apocalyptic love story that keeps you entertained completely I recommend this book as a five-star.

This is standard Schirmer's quality, which will do for a beginner's book and the violin part has its own book. The pieces are just right for myself, a second-third year adult beginner, ranging from easy to challenging but within reach.

As usual this edition is a bit crowded, but it has all Seitz concertos for my daughter to learn. We went with g-minor - beautiful piece.

I was wanting more freezer prep and this is regular recipes with a few suggestions on freezing.

Purchased as my husband and I are trying to pre-prepare meals to help with costs, and eat a little more health-consciously, and to try a few things out to make ahead and freeze once our life is consumed with taking care of a new born. The basic recipes are pretty good and can be tweaked a little if you need depending on taste and preference. Has been really helpful for doing lunches for the week, or meals with some left overs. There's only two of us so we find that we are able to get a couple of meals from these usually.

I love every Taste of Home cookbook that I purchased!! The recipes are easy to follow and the food is delicious!!!

I think that while this book has great concepts and exercises in it, the format that these are presented is a bit bulksome and very difficult to read. His method of numbering is horrible. He has exercises (unnumbered), problems (numbered), theorems (numbered) and statements (numbered in a different format than the theorems). Finding anything in the book is a nightmare. Referring to a concept in the book usually requires something like "Go to the 45th page and then find the 3rd exercise from the bottom (exercises have no number remember). There is a line above that with the statement that you need." The whole book could use a major format overhaul. Then it would be a 5 star book.

I'd give this 5 stars if all the printing mistakes were eliminated (things like missing square root signs). I guess they're still trying to get the kinks out of the kindle electronic format. I assume these problems are not there in the regular printed edition, but I don't know.The material itself is great... very thorough. Perfect for some who has taken an introductory linear algebra course already. Plenty of exercises.

This book has a very good introductory material on matrices and related topics like eigenvalues, canonical forms and location of eigenvalues etc.. It starts from basics like definitions, types of matrices etc.. and goes on to touch some advanced topics as well. A very good text.

This book explained a lot of myth intrinsically using linear algebra really clearly, but sound really complicated when reading literature in the applied fields.But, I don't know whether it is the nature of the subjects or a lack of organization, you need to go back and forth through all the book several times to the really understand the subject and what the excises are looking for.
