I was tutoring an at-risk high school student (learning disabled with a D in English) late in the academic year.When Gatsby was assigned, I was really worried about how she would be able to handle it. Luckily, she wasa romantic at heart and really got into the story; but, also, we used Cliffs Notes to make sure we didn't missany interpretation of the story's many symbols. We found the Cliffs Notes test to be a helpful review, as well.Her final grade in English? 200 points out of 200= an A.
The Cliff Notes provide a good overview and summation of the great Gatsby. The essays are well written and thoughtful, although there could be a few more of them. The skim the surface but do not provide an in-depth analysis.
Son loves using it, understands much better.
Clff Notes are always helpful. You must read the book, but this provides insight that is not always apparent to the reader.
